Assessment of wound integrity in manual small incision cataract surgery in a tertiary hospital in South India

Background: The study aimed to assess the wound integrity in small incision cataract surgery (SICS) by modified Siedel’s test. Material and methods: Forty eyes of 40 patients who underwent from a rural background South India were enrolled after obtaining consent along with surgical January March 2020. A complete history was taken, ocular examination keratometry performed. B-scan conducted for mature cataracts. Fundus performed slit-lamp biomicroscopy 90 D lens. On first post-operative day, best-corrected visual acuity recorded using Snellen chart. Anterior segment conducted. Wound assessed Results: In our study, males constituted 55% population, females — 45%. age or sex patient did not have bearing on need suture (p = 0.283). grade also affect population 0.280). All positive Seidel’s test, notwithstanding patient, cataract, site incision, presence absence suture, that is superior superotemporal. Conclusion: Manual can be considered relatively safe effective procedure vision improvement.
